Young Person's Programme - Ward Helper Volunteer

Job overview

If you are aged 16-18 years old, why not join the Young Person’s Programme (YPP) Volunteering Team?

Volunteering is about making a difference for patients. Volunteers play a vital role as part of the team, contributing to the well-being of our patients. YPP volunteers work alongside Ward staff and engage with our patients that are lonely, isolated or anxious, giving them the opportunity to communicate.

We hope to run the next YPP programme starting in September 2024 and we are now looking for applicants.  You will need to demonstrate a clear motivation for volunteering and a genuine interest in helping others and also embrace our Trust values of Together - Safe, Kind, Excellent.

To apply, you must have turned 16 on or before 5 June 2024.

You must have the right to work in the UK.

Please read our web pages before applying:

Young Person's Programme (16-18) - Our Volunteers (cuh.org.uk)

The next cohort will start on Monday 16 September 2024 with the programme running for 12 weeks. The volunteering duty is one shift of two hours per week, from 16:30-18:30 on a designated weekday (Monday to Friday).

We expect you to attend for the duration of the programme and you must be available to start your volunteering placement in the week beginning Monday 16 September 2024 as well as for the YPP induction on Monday 9 September 2024.

Applications are welcomed between Monday 13 May and Wednesday 5 June 2024 via the ‘Apply now’ button below.

If shortlisted, you will be invited to attend an in-person interview. These will be taking place on Monday 17 and Wednesday 19 June 2024.

If you are successful and offered a place on the Young Person's Programme, you will need to complete mandatory training and attend an induction.

NB:  people under the age of 18 cannot spend more than a total of 40 hours per week in school / college, paid work and volunteering. Please consider this before applying.

As per Home Office guidelines, please be aware that, unfortunately, the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular position.
