We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our cancer management team in a new and exciting role as cancer standards lead. The person will have extensive knowledge and experience of all cancer pathways and cancer waits guidance and must have sound knowledge of Infoflex cancer register.
The post will lead on the design, development and implementation of an extensive cancer training programme for the NCIC workforce. Planning and leading on cancer education days for clinical and non clinical colleagues this post will embed a programme of cancer training to support the workforce in achieving national cancer performance and improved cancer care for patients.
In addition, the post holder will develop a training programme for MDT coordinators and cancer trackers and deliver to the highest standard across all tumour groups ensuring all new and existing staff are trained and competency assessed (minimum annually for substantive staff) in line with current and changing CWT guidance, and applying these standards in working practices.
The job holder will be responsible for scheduling the cancer services team's training and education programme ensuring standard operating processes/systems are available, documented, implemented and embedded.
The post holder will have good engagement and influencing skills and be an effective communicator with the ability to present to large audiences as well as deliver one to one training.
Main duties of the job
Lead on the design, development and implementation of an extensive cancer training programme for the NCIC workforce. Planning and leading on cancer education days for clinical and non clinical colleagues
Have a comprehensive understanding and detailed knowledge of a cancer waiting times guidance. This must be sufficiently comprehensive to be able to deliver training across the organisation.
Support in the development and delivery of the Cancer Training strategy
Undertake testing of Infoflex upgrades making recommendations regarding modifications to ensure that it is fit for purpose. Roll training out to staff when upgrades occur.
To assess the current skill levels of all members of cancer services, plan and devise complex and multi layered training and educational plans, which may require constant revision to meet individual’s needs and new CWT guidance.
To develop and maintain the cancer service teams individualised related documentation including supporting training manuals, certificates, handouts and materials including updated CWT guidance.
To lead and provide informed knowledge and advice on CWT guidelines and the application of cancer information requirements to all members of NCIC staff involved in cancer services.
To monitor staffs recorded CWT patient activity in accordance with national and local cancer waiting time guidelines dealing with any potential discrepancy addressing issues appropriately.
