The Sussex Regional Neurophysiology Service has recently moved to a bright and spacious purpose-built department in the new state of the art Louise Martindale Building at the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and dynamic Clinical Physiologist to join our team providing a comprehensive and responsive investigative neurophysiological service to inpatients and outpatients of all ages across a full range of specialities, with emphasis on very high standards of patient care and study quality.

Working across multiple teams and healthcare settings in the South East, current investigations include:-

  • Standard EEG
  • Enhanced EEG utilising Sleep Deprivation/Melatonin
  • Mobile EEG to ICU, SCBU and wards, including off-site at other hospitals when required
  • Ambulatory EEG
  • Home Video Ambulatory EEG
  • Inpatient Video Telemetry
  • Multimodality Evoked Potentials
  • Electroretinography
  • Physiologist lead nerve conduction study clinics

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Plan, prepare and perform a range of investigations on a diverse spectrum of patients as required.
  • Analysis and report data for interpretation by senior colleagues.
  • Provide conclusions for Normal EEGs.
  • Participate or lead in education and training of departmental staff members, clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Contribute to development of departmental protocols and procedures.
  • Actively participate in monthly team meetings and training sessions.
  • Effectively work as an active member of the team ensuring patient experience is of the highest standard and service needs are meet.
  • Provide a point of contact for a specialist area of neurophysiology provision  and lead on service delivery and development within this area.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Registered BSc(Hons) Clinical Physiology (Neurophysiology) or equivalent
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Proven post qualification experience within Neurophysiology

Skills & Ability

Essential

  • Knowledge of complete range of Neurophysiological procedures acquired through specialist courses or training/experience to MSc level.

  • Appropriate post qualification experience (equivalent to 5 years post graduate)
  • Working knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through courses or experience

  • MSc Clinical Neurophysiology Practice or equivalent experience

  • Membership of Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS)
  • Membership of the Association of Neurophysiological Scientists (ANS)
