The Software Development and Integration manager will be responsible for the development and delivery of internally developed systems, integration and database structures to support internally developed and managed operational business and/or clinical systems.

The role will support the development of systems to enable efficient digital systems to record electronic data across the organisation as well as those used across the wider ICS partner organisations and be responsible for strategic planning across a number of specialised areas within this area of responsibility.

The Software Development and Integration Manager will ensure any upgrades required to or affecting systems managed or integrated within area of responsibility are tested thoroughly.  This also includes overseeing the design, planning, configuration testing and implementation phase are documented, robust and accessible to meet the requirements of the service, as well as ensuring robust contingency plan is in place for continuity of internally developed systems. 

Main duties of the job

  • The role will provide the expertise in software development and integration and regularly review the toolset used across the team, as well as new opportunities to ensure that the functionality of internally developed systems are utilised to maximise the benefits to users and support delivery of trust business objectives.
  • To provide leadership  in the operational management, implementation, maintenance of software development and integration projects assisting in the provision of continuous and acceptable service to users,
  • To lead the team tasks as well as co-ordinate project resource, develop training programmes, recruitment, disciplinary and appraisal processes as required.
  • To be the Trust expert in Software Development (including web development, database structures and integration tools) and support the project management and implementation of Trust wide IT systems which are consistent with the Trust’s strategic direction, ensuring that these comply with national guidance, informing the organisation and taking appropriate action to ensure compliance.
  • To identify and develop areas across the Trust where internal developed systems or team skills can be utilised to improve business processes and lead to increased efficiency.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • Qualification in Management, Leadership or innovation
  • • Evidence of continuing professional development, either academic (e.g., MSc) or in an industry standard qualification (e.g., MSCD).
  • • Relevant first degree or equivalent experience in digital solutions (web/database/integration)

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Designing and implementing complex solution architecture
  • • Deploying, configuring, and managing software database and integration solutions design and development
  • • Diagnosing and resolving software solutions, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime and ensure system stability
  • comprehensive documentation of applications including design, deployment and testing
  • • Team Leadership and Mentoring: Providing technical guidance and mentorship to Network/Telephony engineers and support to software, database and integration developers
  • • Experience of being responsible for financial or physical assets.
  • • Experience of clinical practices and working within specialist environments
