Job overview
The post holder will play a key role in proactively developing the effective use and interpretation of information to support Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber (RDaSH) NHS Foundation Trust.
The role encompasses collation, analysis and interpretation of information and reporting requests across a wide variety of operational services, development of routine and ad hoc reports presented in a clear and understandable format and supporting managers and clinicians in defining their information requirements to meet strategic, operational and clinical needs
To provide support a high quality information management service and engage with clinicians, senior managers and colleagues from a wide range of teams and services to support them in their use and interpretation of information.
Business analysis of clinical and management information and reporting requests to support business planning and performance improvement.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of this post is to undertake business analysis and scoping for new information and reporting requirements
The postholder will be expected to collate, analyse and interpret clinical and management information requests from a wide variety of sources and across a range of operational services
The postholder will work with tools such SQL, Power BI and SSRS and will need to proactively engage with colleagues in the Trust and other key contacts to achieve a shared understanding of information requirements and support the development of effective working relationships.
The postholder will be expected to provide technical expertise to staff within the Information team and other colleagues as appropriate on a range of topics, for example, highly complex queries to extract datasets, creating reports, using advanced features of reporting systems/software

- Degree Level Qualification
- Equivalent NHS Experience
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continuing studies or professional development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Appropriate Demonstrable experience in information-related business analysis role
- Significant experience of data evaluation and interpretation
- Experience of presenting information in written reports so that it can be easily understood
- Experience in the use of database extraction tools to develop complex queries
- Experience of pulling together data from a wide range of sources and presenting information in a meaningful way
- Proven experience of dealing with information requests, interpreting highly complex data sets
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of relational database management system
- Knowledge of reporting tools
- Knowledge of health service data
- A clear understanding of the NHS and its performance frameworks
- An expert knowledge of business processes to support operational delivery
Desirable criteria
- Experience in the technical design and implementation of BI solutions
- Experience in NHS information flows, hospital systems and applications
- Experience in NHS commissioning data sets
Skills/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- High level of numeracy and demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret data
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate complex statistical information in a manner that can be easily understood
- Ability to manage a substantial area of work under own initiative
- Ability to plan and prioritise own workload, liaise and negotiate with ‘customers’ to agree and adjust work plans
- Ability to deal with broad ranging requests for information and assimilate into clearly defined work areas
- Ability to identify relevant unknown factors and limitations specific to the available data
- Highly proactive and innovative style of working
- Excellent skills in developing effective working relationships
- Experience using Microsoft SQL
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Internet Explorer to search for information
- Good eye for detail
- Ability to focus in stressful situations and work effectively under pressure.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of Power BI
- Ability to write clear and concise technical and user oriented documentation.
