University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy teams at Royal Lancaster Infirmary. 

Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician - 2 year fixed term. 

This post attracts a trainee salary under Annex U/21 of Agenda for Change: 

• Year 1 - 70% of the top of a Band 4 

• Year 2 - 75% of the top of a Band 4 

You must possess a minimum of 4 GCSE’s (grade C and above) or equivalent qualifications in English, Mathematics and Science 

Main duties of the job

Together with full hospital training, you will study part time day release at Kendal College for a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians 

Upon successful completion of the qualification, you will be able to register as qualified Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council. 

This is a training post; the duties will reflect progress of the training programme and be undertaken under close instruction and supervision. 
To work as a member of the Pharmacy team to provide safe, timelyappropriate and high quality pharmaceutical services for patients and staff. 
To participate in providing medication for stock, in-patients and discharge.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • English, Maths and Science to GCSE level (or equivalent) Grade C or above
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ2 in Pharmacy services or working towards

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience of working within a pharmacy department in hospital or community
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Hospital Pharmacy

Skills, ability and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills, written and oral
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with Pharmacy computer system
  • Attention to detail
  • Flexibility and ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to cope with work, college and study
Desirable criteria
  • Able to prioritise workload
  • Knowledge of the JAC, Pharmacy computer system
