This advert is for a part time (0.8WTE) Band 7 Lead Midwife for Fetal Medicine at Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will be an experienced Midwife responsible for the delivery of Fetal Medicine services at St Michael's Hospital. Applicants will be existing Band 6/7 practising Midwives who will lead and work as members of the multidisciplinary team within the maternity service across Bristol and Weston. They will act as an expert resource and role model for the multi-disciplinary team, maternity service, division and trust.
Main duties of the job
- Demonstrate highly technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; administration of invasive tests and procedures.
- To have on-going responsibility for the clinical area, recognising changing priorities and implementing corrective actions to accommodate changing service needs, planning, implementing and evaluating the specialist care for antenatal clients. Along with ensuring adequate, safe staffing levels.
- Be visible, assertive, coordinating all aspects of patient care and staff management.
- To participate in the maternity Flow rota.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Degree qualification or equivalent
- Teaching/Mentoring qualification and evidence of teaching skills
- Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of professional portfolio and registration revalidation
- Child protection training
Experience - Desirable
Desirable criteria
- Experience in operating laser and assisting with fetoscopic laser photocoagulation and other procedures required within FMU
- Ability to perform and interpret basic ultrasound assessment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Can build effective working relationships with staff at all levels across different teams in the hospital and across the region (including neonatal, gynaecology, fetal medicine, delivery suite, patient safety and psychology) to co-ordinate patient care

- Can work independently as an autonomous practitioner as well as part of the MDT and be organised in the practice environment.
