Job overview
We are currently looking to recruit salaried General Practitioners across our Hywel Dda University Health Board managed practices located in Tenby, Neyland and Solva in Pembrokeshire and Kidwelly, Pontyates and Llanelli in Carmarthenshire. Our managed practices serve communities with varying needs and levels of deprivation, all with an ageing demographic.
Ash Grove Medical Centre is situated in the centre of Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. Ashgrove Medical Centre sits just above Gelli Onn in Llanelli and is a large purpose-built building which first opened its doors in 2001. The attractive building has multiple consultation and treatment rooms to the lower floors and large meeting and administrative rooms to the upper floor. Ashgrove has a current patient list size of 7867 offering patients a range of consultations.
We are offering both full and part time positions to work as part of our multidisciplinary teams within our practices.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work alongside our dedicated Clinical lead GP within the practice implementing a plan to provide high quality services for the patients and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the practice.
To provide consultation and appropriate clinical management of patients attending the practice, or to those where a home visit is clinically necessary.
To establish and maintain appropriate chronic disease management clinics.
To provide telephone and/or virtual consultation and appropriate management of patients who contact the practice, where necessary
To undertake telephone triage as and when necessary
To keep accurate and legible records of all patient contacts and contribute to electronic data recording and audit as directed by the service.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
- Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
- Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
- 47 general practices (6 of which are managed practices), 45 dental practices (including 4 orthodontic), 96 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
- Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
- Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
