We are seeking a passionate, innovative and motivated practitioner to join our Cumbria Community Paediatric Service specifically North Cumbria.
Cumbria Community Paediatric Service support better health outcomes for children and young people, including complex physical care and assessment of autism.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be working primarily within North Cumbria and will:
- Work as part of multi disciplinary team (MDT) to support the ongoing development, delivery and evaluation of a highly specialist diagnostic assessment service
- To provide highly specialised advice and support to children and young people referred to the Cumbria Community Paediatric Team, and their families and carers, including assessment, formulation and treatment.
- As an autonomous practitioner, be responsible for own clinical activity and interventions and interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies.
- To undertake regular research, clinical audit and activities for Continuing Professional Development
- Planning, implementation and evaluation of care, to support a family and young person through the diagnostic process from screening and initial triage to conclusion and discharge
- Provide clinical leadership in Autism assessment service

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Registered Allied Health Professional on HCPC Registrar or registration with the NMC in Mental Health, Learning disability, and/or child branch, and/or RN.
- • Post Graduate diploma in Mental Health and/or Child Development / and/or Neurodevelopment plus further specialist training to masters level or equivalent experience.
- • Teaching and Mentoring Qualification
Desirable criteria
- • Leadership/Management MSc level qualification or experience
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Training and experience in completing Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule ( ADOS)
- • Experience of contributing towards Autism assessments in children and young people
- • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- • Experience of formulation abd implementation of appropriate interventions/strategies
- • Experience of working in community settings and of autonomous decision making.
- • Experience and ability to carry out clinical audit
- • Experience of working with people with mental health difficulties or neuro-disability conditions.
Skills
Essential criteria
- • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with families and young people in a supportive and empathic way.
- • Experience of writing neurodevelopmental assessment reports
- • Ability to communicate effectively as part of a team
- • Proven track record of high quality report writing and record keeping
- • Knowledge of relevant NICE guidelines
- • Experience of reviewing clinical documents to inform assessment
