Clinical Psychologist in Paediatric Long-term Ventilation

We are looking for Clinical Psychologists or final year Trainee Clinical Psychologists with an interest in paediatric psychology and the impact of living with long-term ventilation. You may have experience of working with physical health problems with either children/families or adults, or experience of working in child and adolescent or adult mental health services with a keen interest and desire to apply that knowledge to work in an acute trust.
The postholder will join the multi-disciplinary long-term ventilation (LTV) team at the Nottingham Children's Hospital (QMC). Families under the care of the LTV team are often faced with distressing and stressful experiences as a result of their health needs. This might include adjusting to health conditions and treatments, having to make changes in living arrangements, frequent hospital visits and uncertainty of future health needs. As a psychologist working in the service, you will provide a specialist clinical psychology service for babies/children/young people and their families to help them better manage psychological distress associated with their health needs.
We would welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists, or 3rd Year Trainees due to qualify in 2024.

The main duties of the role will involve working closely with the multidisciplinary LTV Team. You will work with children and young people through consultation to staff, direct work and by attending multidisciplinary clinics. Your base will predominantly be at the Children's Hospital QMC campus. You will be part of a welcoming and growing Clinical Psychology Department which incorporates specialisms in Paediatric Psychology, Adult Medical Psychology and Child and Adult Neuropsychology.

The paediatric psychology team is a growing, warm and supportive team, who meet regularly to share and develop ideas. There are opportunities for continued professional development and clinical supervision is well provided for within the paediatric clinical psychology team. We regularly have trainees from the DClinPsy courses around the region, so there would be opportunities to supervise trainees. You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision as required to others within and outside of the multidisciplinary team. The department has a commitment to clinical research. Strong support is available to participate in research or to develop your clinical research interests.

- Knowledge of complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology

- Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies or assessment methodologies

Experience

- Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
- Experience of carrying out research

- Working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist in paediatric psychology or adult clinical health psychology
Training & Qualifications

- Completed (or due to complete in 2024) post-graduate doctoral level DClinPsy in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS
- Current HCPC registration for Clinical Psychologist (or eligibility to qualify for registration in 2024)
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.

- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
