Patient Safety Harm Free Educator

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Quality and Safety Team at UHNM.

We are looking to recruit 2  Registered Nurse/ AHP Patient Safety Harm Free Educators with the primary focus of the role being to equip the clinical workforce and support frontline nursing, midwifery and allied health professional staff to constantly assess the status of care provided to patients. In particular initiating improvements and education in patient harms (pressure ulcers, falls, VTE and medication safety).

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will undertake the following duties as part of their role

  • Act as a role model in all episodes of interaction with Trust staff, patients, their carers and members of the public.
  • Assist in identifying key education needs for staff to reduce patient harm.
  • Work with the Senior Sisters for Quality and Safety to understand key themes and trends from current data
  • Work in partnership with staff from all clinical areas.
  • It is expected that ALL employees of the Trust will take part in the appraisal process each year with the first appraisal taking place within the first 6 months from appointment.
  • Assist in delivery of education which demonstrates current evidence based-practice
  • Will be required to interpret and manage complex and sensitive information
  • Network with colleagues within the UHNM to enable delivery of varied education and training programmes.
  • Participate in the Care Excellent Framework programme

To work alongside frontline staff to assess the status of care provided to patients and facilitate improvements in the quality of care and outcomes of all patients.
