Allied Health Professions: Requirements and registration

Physiotherapist

Physiotherapists treat the physical problems that affect the muscles, bones, heart, circulation and lungs following accidents, illness and the natural ageing process.

Entry Requirements

The entry requirements for a BSc in Physiotherapy are 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including at least 2 sciences, and a minimum of 3 A levels, or recognised alternatives such as BTEC or GNVQ.

Applications should be made via UCAS .

The degree consists of a 3 or 4 year course at a recognised university. Successful completion of the course means that you would be eligible for state registration by the Health Professions Council (HPC)

Some accelerated programmes in physiotherapy, mostly at Masters level, are also available, for those who already have a relevant undergraduate degree. Four year part-time courses are also delivered at some institutions.
