Contract: Full Time - Permanent

An opportunity has arisen for two motivated Lecturers/Senior Lecturers in Occupational Therapy (OT) to join our team at Oxford Brookes.

Located within the Department for Sport, Health Science and Social Work, we provide pre-registration OT programmes at BSc and MSc degree levels. The Occupational Therapy programmes are primarily delivered in the healthcare teaching facilities at the Marston Road site of the University, offering state-of-the art simulation skills labs and teaching facilities, and close to local clinical and research sites of excellence.

We would expect our new Lecturers/Senior Lecturers to undertake academic and academic-related responsibilities in the delivery of high-quality Occupational Therapy. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching and supervision of student research projects at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the management, scholarly activity, and developmental ambitions of the department, taking responsibility for a programme role as required.

The post holder must have a pre-registration degree in Occupational Therapy or a relevant equivalent, and a postgraduate degree in a health and social care related subject or be studying for one. Applicants must be registered with the HCPC as an Occupational Therapist (international applicants are invited if they have commenced the process of registration with the HCPC). Depending on applicant experience, split posts may be considered.

Experience required for the post:

We are particularly interested in encouraging applications for our Lecturer/Senior Lecturer post from candidates who have the following:

  • a strong clinical background in Occupational Therapy; clinical experience in physical settings, mental health settings and/or paediatric settings are all invited
  • a track record of teaching/contributing to teaching and/or module leadership, preferably within a higher education institution
  • experience of research activity and/or supervising undergraduate student research projects
  • experience of practice educator supervision of pre-registration Occupational Therapy students
  • possession of a suitable teaching qualification for a higher education setting (or willingness to complete in post)

As one of the largest employers in Oxford we pride ourselves in the great experience we offer our staff. You'll be joining a friendly, professional environment where every member of staff is recognised as important to the success of Oxford Brookes University.

If you are interested in finding out more information about this post or would like an informal look around, please contact Dr Tanya Rihtman [email protected]

At Oxford Brookes, inclusivity is one of our five guiding principles: we take positive steps to create an environment in which we celebrate, value, and provide equal opportunity to all. We are committed to recruiting from the widest possible pool and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates who embrace our values, regardless of their background.

As a Disability Confident Employer, we guarantee to interview any disabled applicant who meets the essential selection criteria.

Please note that from 4th April 2024 the Lecturer level role may not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the points-based immigration system due to the increase in minimum salary requirement. However, applications are welcome from candidates who don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.

Closing date: 28 April 2024.
