Are you passionate about making a difference and improving lives? We're looking for an Band 4 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor to join our Barnet Integrated Learning Disability Service. Join a team dedicated to driving change and delivering excellent clinical care. As part of our integrated service, you'll work alongside a supportive multidisciplinary health and social care team.

Join our friendly and dynamic team, where you'll have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge, skills, and experience to promote quality care. Our caseload includes adults with learning disabilities and complex needs such as neuromuscular disorders, genetic syndromes, and mobility difficulties. You'll play a crucial role in providing postural management solutions, including wheelchairs, seating, sleep systems, and orthotics.

Main duties of the job

Your role will involve supporting Physiotherapists in providing equipment and exercise plans tailored to meet the specific needs of service users. Excellent communication skills are essential, as you'll be working with a diverse population, including many who communicate non-verbally. You'll also interact with carers and families to ensure all aspects of our users' lives are addressed. Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required for document production, and you'll need basic computer skills for notetaking and document storage. Don't worry if you're not experienced in these areas – training will be provided. A minimum of A-levels or NVQ Level 3 education is required, and experience working with individuals with learning disabilities is advantageous.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. To establish and maintain appropriate therapeutic relationships with people who use the service and/or carers, putting them at ease and encouraging participation.

 

  1. To show awareness of any special needs the person and/or carer has (hearing or visual impairment, poor memory, speech problems and physical impairment). This may involve using alternative forms of communication, such as symbols or signing.

 

  1. Where possible, to work with people to develop goals jointly and place people who use the service at the centre of intervention plans.

 

  1. To have a balance of independent working on specified tasks, which may involve working independently with people who use the service whose case management is predictable, in addition to co-working with the therapists.
