We are appointing a Locum and Substantive Consultant Anaesthetist in our Critical Care team at UHS. The job plan will be a mixture of neuro ICU and general anaesthesia. This post is offered as Locum and Substantive Contract. 

This large department offers all major specialties and there are opportunities for you to undertake a wide variety of work. The elements we require in particular are elective and emergency major general surgery, orthopaedic/trauma and spinal surgery, ophthalmic anaesthesia, pre-assessment clinic, anaesthesia for endoscopy and interventional radiology.

What you’ll do

We require the services of anaesthetists who can undertake out of hours neuro ICU cover and daytime general anaesthesia duties.

We also cover surgical specialities at Lymington New Forest Hospital, and sessions are available there. A wide range of anaesthetic skills are needed, therefore candidates with almost any skill set are welcome.

What we’re looking for

Applicants should have CCT and be on the GMC Specialist Register.

Salary (depends on experience) : £99,532 - £131,964 annual

Qualifications and training

  • Full GMC registration
  • CCT in Anaesthesia/ICM (near completion of CESR programme)

  • Post graduate medical qualification (eg MRCP), or MSc, Cert Ed. (completed or currently in progress)

Previous or relevant experience

  • 2 years NHS Speciality Trainee level experience
  • Experience in a range of sub-speciality Anaesthetics
  • Teaching experience
  • Audit experience
