Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Care Group Management team as an Associate Operations Manager at University Hospital Southampton Foundation Trust  (UHS).

You will support the Management Team and interact with multidisciplinary teams' across the Trust. We're are looking for someone that is organised, operational experience and has great communication skills. and operational experience.

The role is offered on a full-time  basis  (37.5 hours per week) based within the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit and Same Day Emergency Care. Flexibility around the needs of the service is essential for this role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for the effective management, making decisions, providing solutions and/or advice to staff in response to pressures.

You will support the operational running of the service including having oversight of a number of performance targets and waiting times, as well as identify areas for service improvement and lead on projects to enhance the availability of resources and streamline processes to improve patient experience.

The role involves identifying compromising issues at the earliest opportunity and providing management support to reach a resolution in relation to capacity, staffing and complaints

The role will also support in ensuring effective utilisation of capacity and provide operational leadership within the care group by supporting day to day management issues. 

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual with experience and working knowledge of the Emergency care setting. We are looking for someone with proven communication skills with the ability to solve problems. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of operational service targets within the NHS.

The successful candidate will be able to work flexibly in line with the demands of the services including evenings and weekends.

  • Postgraduate Management qualification or relevant equivalent experience
