Salary: Band 5

Hours: 30 hours per week/part time

Base: The Harbour Blackpool

The Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust is a rewarding place to work as a Physiotherapist. We have sound professional structures to lead and inspire our Physiotherapy workforce of over 90 employees.

Our established and growing Mental Health Physiotherapy service provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside dedicated professionals providing high quality care to our mental health inpatients, not only within the Harbour Hospital but within several other mental health inpatient units across our network. This is a rare and unique opportunity to further develop and broaden your skills.

As a Physiotherapist in our mental health team, you will provide physiotherapy intervention across four older adult wards in the harbour and also to our younger adult wards when required.

Main duties of the job

There will be opportunities to get involved in our other mental health units across the trust. You will see patients with a variety of physical conditions, some with very complex needs who require ongoing mental health treatment. The Physiotherapy team comprises of qualified physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work closely with occupational therapists, therapy workers, health and well-being workers, speech therapists, psychologists, consultants and nursing staff.

We are looking to recruit a dedicated, enthusiastic, ambitious and confident physiotherapist who is able to think outside the box and who has excellent communication skills. Experience of working in mental health is desirable but not essential. It would be beneficial however to have good ground knowledge in the different aspects of physiotherapy, specific mental health conditions and the impact this has on our physical health.  In return you will have clinical and management supervision from your team lead, specialist support by experienced senior staff and colleagues, continuing professional development and access to specialist physiotherapy forums.

The Mental Health Team are led by a multidisciplinary management team, including a Professional Lead for physiotherapy.  This is a rare opportunity and an exciting time to join our dynamic team as a physiotherapy clinician, to be involved in developing our innovative services.
