Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Teacher within the Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust Dental Service. Based at the Accrington Dental Education Centre. 7.5 hours per week on a fixed day basis (Thursdays)
Salary scale: Local Senior Lecturer scale, currently £50,167 to £70,966 for a 37.5 hour week, pro rata, commensurate with experience and previous NHS employment. Please be advised that LSCft Dental Services are currently in consultation with its Clinical Teachers to move them onto the Band B SPDCS terms and conditions and pay scales.
You will be working within a modern purpose built multi-surgery dental centre with training bays in Accrington, Lancashire, which is home to the Dental Education Centre, Community Dental Service and In and Out of Hours Urgent Dental Care Services.
The main duties of this salaried position will be to provide clinical supervision to undergraduate dental students and dental therapists with the support of Senior Tutors from UCLan. Outside of term time you will support LSCft Dental Services to provide urgent dental care to student patients.

Main duties of the job
The primary purpose of the role is to provide chairside clinical supervision for undergraduate dental and therapy students treating patients of Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) Dental Services in the Dental Education Centre.
Staff will be expected to take part in assessment of the students and to work collaboratively with full time staff from LSCFT Dental Services and UCLan to develop and enhance clinical teaching.
Staff will be required to screen patients and provide urgent dental care for student patients when the student clinics are not operating.
Staff will also be required to provide urgent dental care support to the clinical teams of LSCft Dental Services appropriate to their competencies when there are no student clinics operating. This may be across the Service footprint.
