An opportunity has arisen to recruit a Project Manager to join the Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust’s Strategy and Transformation Team. The Project Manager will be expected to lead the Project Management elements of the design and implementation phases of the Safe Learning Environment Charter and the People Promise Programme. 

The post holder will be expected to support the Safe Learning Environment Partner and the People Promise Partner as well as working closely with the Trusts Staff Experience Improvement Programme. 

The individual will help to facilitate important and innovative change set out by these two NHS England programmes. The role allows for the individual to network with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining important relationships, and working creatively and dynamically. They will work within a team of experienced project and programme managers as well as specialist workstream and programme leads, who are extremely supportive and encouraging and offer a good collaborative team ethic. There are always opportunities available for development and progression largely supported by the team and line management. Our team lead on a wide variety of programmes and projects from service improvements, site developments, strategic design and execution to innovative service implementation.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering appropriate project documentation and delivering progress updates across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring milestones are met and risks mitigated and/or managed where possible. Therefore, the individual will need the ability to work under pressure and respond to short timescales.

They must be credible, flexible and innovative, with project and change management skills, ideally developed in healthcare or other fast-moving environments. The role will require good planning and organisational skills, specifically the development of clear and pragmatic plans for delivering complex projects. 

The post holder should be able to demonstrate good communication skills and be pro-active and motivated to lead others whilst also working to varied senior managers and clinical leads, sometimes with competing priorities.

Key Result Areas

• To proactively manage and lead projects of work aligned to the Safe Learning Environment Charter and the People Promise Programme. - In achieving this, the post holder will be guided in most situations by Trust objectives, policies and procedures, and wider national requirements but will need to be able to interpret, apply and implement these locally and to align with the change being implemented.

• To develop and performance manage project plans with clear outcomes / benefits identified and all links and dependencies established.

Skills:

• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, negotiating and influencing skills demonstrated through experience of working in complex and demanding environments, including the ability to persuade senior clinicians (or equivalent), and managers to adopt new ways of working.

• Ability to organise and plan a highly complex range of multi-faceted activities with a significant number of links and inter-dependencies.

Experience

  • Experience of working in the NHS (or similar fast moving, customer focused, quality led environment), with demonstrable experience leading complex change and service development
  • Demonstrable experience of working with clinicians (or other professional body), and operational staff groups, securing early and consistent engagement
  • Demonstrable experience in leading change and service improvement initiatives
  • Clear understanding of the NHS England Safe Learning Environment Charter and the NHS People Promise

Knowledge / Skills

  • Involvement in service improvement initiatives that work to tight timescales
  • Evidence of strong team working across divisional and organisational boundaries
  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and programme and project management software to enable production of high-quality reports to project boards and other audiences
  • Knowledge of basic service improvement tools and techniques including process mapping, financial and data analysis, process and pathway redesign, working with groups, redesigning roles, defining and measuring improvements
