Audiologist - Team Leader

We are looking to recruit a clinically competent audiologist with considerable experience in Vestibular Diagnostic Audiology to lead specialised clinics. They will be the lead on the development of Vestibular Diagnostic services in the department and also provide vestibular treatment sessions.
The post holder will play a key role in supporting and training junior staff on vestibular diagnostic Audiology and provide supervision, training and advice to junior staff and students within the department. They will closely liaise with other specialities and professionals.
In addition the post holder will work closely with Audiology senior staff to continuously improve service delivery and will take responsibility for individual personal development of junior staff.
We currently offer hearing services for 2 Foundation trusts at 8 sites across Surrey and Hampshire. This post is based in Guildford although you may be required to travel to an outreach clinic on occasion and take part in the domiciliary visits rota. The post-holder will provide routine and specialist clinical services to adults and work within a multi-disciplinary team.

Staff members benefit from taking part in a wide range of educational and professional development opportunities comprising monthly clinical training sessions, journal clubs, and case study sessions. Staff members are also supported to attend audiology training courses. In addition, there are plenty of in-house educational activities ranging from training programmes on audiology specialities (e.g., paediatric, tinnitus, vestibular diagnostics and rehabilitation, physiological measurements etc) to taking part in ongoing research projects.
The post holder will be responsible for the provision of Vestibular Diagnostic Audiology services, training and service development, in close working with the Clinical Service Leads and Head of Department.
The post holder will be expected to take forward the modernisation of the service and to develop innovative and patient focused models of care.
This will cover the maintenance of demonstrably high professional standards in respect of:
• The scientific, technical, therapeutic, rehabilitation and clinical activity of the Vestibular Audiology service
• Patient care
• The effective and efficient use of resources and the management of workload
• The provision of professional advice consistent with the responsibilities and expertise of the department
• Service development
• Teaching and training of junior staff

Qualifications

- MSc in Audiology or equivalent experience
- Be a member of an appropriate professional body (RCCP/HCPC)
- A certificate of Audiological Competence or equivalent HTS Modules
Skills

- Excellent clinical skills in Audiological practice
- Able to work as part of a team
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritise workloads
- Have an advanced, theoretical and practical knowledge of vestibular and physiological clinical audiology including videonystagmography, electronystagmography, oVEMPS, cVEMPs, calorics, posturography, vestibular bedside assessment, detailed clinical vestibular history taking, BPPV assessment techniques.
- Have an advanced, theoretical and practical knowledge of vestibular rehabilitative audiology including developing individualised treatment plans which include vestibular rehabilitation exercises, BPPV particle repositioning procedures.
- Have experience with providing vestibular rehabilitation group treatment sessions such as introductory group, pacing group, support group. Have experience with employing CBT and mindfulness skills in a vestibular rehabilitation context.
- Leadership skills
- Project Management skills - prioritising, planning, adapting plans, resource planning
- Ability to make decisions autonomously, when required, on difficult issues, working to timescales
- Research and critical thinking skills
- IT Skills, Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with intermediate keyboard skills and auditbase
- Have experience in undertaking advanced adult diagnostic testing to include speech audiometry, OAE’s, ABR’s and ASSR’s
- Experience of working both as an independent practitioner and supervisor for a wide range of audiological assessment and rehabilitative techniques and outcomes
