CONSULTANT UROLOGIST

HEALTH NEW ZEALAND/TE WHATU ORA - SOUTHERN

In pursuit of excellence, the Dunedin School of Medicine, in association with Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora - Southern, seeks to appoint a TD Scott Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor of Urology.

This position is available as the result of a generous gift to the University intended to establish a strong academic and research presence in Urology within the Dunedin School of Medicine.

The position provides an excellent opportunity for a clinical academic to establish themselves in one of the leading medical schools in Australasia.

A primary intent for this position is to support research into issues affecting male health, in particular those of a urological nature. There are research opportunities for wider collaboration with other researchers in the University's well regarded medical and medical science departments such as the Departments of Anatomy, Pathology and Preventive and Social Medicine.

In addition to holding the position of TD Scott Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor of Urology the appointee will concurrently hold a position as Consultant Urologist with Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Southern. This is a joint University/Hospital position and will be held as a single contract with the University. The two separate roles equal the equivalent of one full-time position.

Academic Component (0.5 FTE)

The successful applicant will be based in the Department of Surgical Sciences, Dunedin School of Medicine and appointed to the position of Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor or Professor dependent on academic achievement, skills and experience.

The appointee will have academic qualifications and prior experience in teaching and research and will be responsible for teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There will be significant opportunity for laboratory and clinically based research.

Clinical Component (0.5 FTE)

Health New Zealand/Te Whatu Ora Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities.

The successful applicant will participate in an on-call roster and provide a full range of Urological services alongside an enthusiastic group of colleagues. The applicant will need to have the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) or equivalent qualification, to have completed a fellowship in Urology, and must hold, or be eligible for, vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council.
