Job overview

The post will involve working weekdays and a weekend every other week. We are a dynamic and progressive community hospital setting and as a Housekeeper you work to support the Ward in assisting with compliance of infection control policies. To work alongside the trained staff to ensure the patients nutritional needs are met  

Main duties of the job

  • To assist in monitoring and maintaining cleaning standards on the ward. 

  • To ensure that the ward is safe and tidy at all times. 

  • To liaise with domestic staff/ domestic supervisor to ensure that all ward areas are appropriately cleaned, including deep cleaning and enhanced cleaning.  

  • Demonstrate compliance to infection prevention and control policies. 

  • To assist patients to order food where necessary, taking into account, special needs and medical requirements. 

  • To prepare and serve hot/cold snacks available at ward level as requested. 

  • To be responsible for serving meals, ensuring that patients dietary intake is known and that their dietary needs are met.  

  • To manage/ co-ordinate meal service. 

  • To assist ward staff in the monitoring of service delivery especially related to cleaning, food, linen and the environment 

  • To ensure that all defects relating to the ward environment are appropriately reported and recorded to maintenance staff 

  • To ensure that equipment awaiting repair is stored safely and sent to other departments as necessary in an appropriate and safe manner. 

  • To assist ward staff with the cleaning and preparation of beds.
