An opportunity has arisen for an experienced registered nurse who is passionate about supporting continuous professional development within the nursing team. The main aim of the role is to maintain an effective educational environment through coaching and staff development within Charing Cross acute and specialist medicine with input into other clinical settings with the support of the educator lead. The successful candidate will be a credible acute care clinical nurse who is keen in embedding improvement methodologies in line with the Trust strategic goals. The post holder will act as a clinical coordinator, focusing on professional development to assist the nurse-in-charge in ensuring patient safety.
Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for the training, coaching and support of all staff within neurosciences.
- Provide supervisory expertise underpinned by theoretical knowledge, skill and practical experience, imparting specialist knowledge of clinical speciality.
- Plan and deliver, formal, written and verbal training sessions to a variety of groups.
- Recognise cultural diversity and learning styles of all staff and adapt training accordingly.
- Act as an expert role model in clinical practice and provide expert clinical advice for individuals and teams.
- Ensure that patient care is delivered in accordance with established guidelines and policies to the agreed standards both local and national.
- Understand and work towards the specific objectives for practice educational development to support the Trust’s Nursing Strategy.
- Provide and encourage leadership, motivation and vision regarding the contribution of nursing to healthcare.

- Registered Nurse
- Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent)
- Evidence of continuing professional development in the last 3 years

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in different medical specialities
- Experience at Band 6 in a relevant clinical setting
- Competent in performing professional development review and ability to give advice and signpost staff to continuous professional development opportunities
- Project Management or equivalent experience or qualification i.e. quality improvement
- Experience in developing lesson/session plans and evaluating effectiveness of lessons
- Recent experience, managing or supervising a clinical team
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Computer Literacy specially MS Excel for data management
- Self motivated, with drive and initiative and able to work autonomously and within a team
- Leadership skills
- Problem solving and task analysis
