Would you like to develop skills in renal nursing, caring for patients who have kidney failure?
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Brent Renal Centre for a Staff Nurse to join our team.
Brent Renal Centre provides care for 130 patients requiring maintenance haemodialysis. We have 27 stations and run three shifts, with opening times between 07:00 – Midnight, Mon – Saturday. You will be working a mixture of long and short days.
Ideally you will have 6 months NHS experience in an acute setting, though we will consider newly qualified.
This is a significant opportunity for you to join our established, experienced team. Our unit provides evidence-based care and we participate in research initiatives. You will benefit from both in-house training and the potential to undertake the renal course.
This role requires technical ability as well as sound nursing skills. Haemodialysis experience is not essential but would be an advantage.
Main duties of the job
- Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision including inpatient wards and units as required.
- Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence based, individualised patient care.
- Band 5 Nurses in possession of the renal course will have the ability to be in charge of a shift in the absence of band 8 or 7.
- Organise one’s own work load ensuring most effective use of time.
- Assess the needs of patients, relatives and carers and provide them with information as requested.
- Assist in the teaching and development of nursing assistants and students helping them to achieve their learning outcomes.
- To keep up to date with current developments in nursing and ensure evidence based practice.
- Develop new skills and knowledge pertaining to the speciality as advised by the senior.
