Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a B6 midwife to support our developing women’s and children’s research portfolio. This role will offer an exciting opportunity to be based within the research team, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team to support, develop and deliver research projects across the W&C division within the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This is an excellent role for those who wish to work in a clinical research environment and contribute to improving patient care for the future.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented and highly motivated individual, we are looking for a midwife with either research or significant clinical experience. 

The post holder will be organised, have a flexible approach to work and be motivated to provide excellent clinical care with exceptional communication and organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

The role of the research midwife at The Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (RSCH) will be to support the set up and delivery of research. The role will involve screening patients and monitoring patients during studies, assisting with clinical investigations and the collection and documentation of accurate data. The research midwife will work collaboratively with all teams to provide excellent care for patients and their relatives.

The research midwife/nurse will be a point of contact for participants and health professionals and will be responsible for managing study data and the follow-up of participants. To assist in the development and implementation of the wider research agenda.

•    To assist the team leader in leading the team in the provision of high quality, research based, care that is patient focused.
•    To support the team leader in the management and facilitation of the development of staff creating an effective team

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife – Part 10 of the register.
  • Degree level (or above) midwifery qualification.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience as a practicising midwife
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working and collaborating with other agencies
  • Management of resources
  • Evidence of continuous personal, professional and academic development
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a small team, as well as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and experience of handling complex relationships
Desirable criteria
  • Significant clinical trials experience
