We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and experience consultant to join our expert team of Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. 

This is a 10 PA post including on-call. 

Candidates who wish to work a different number of programmed activities to that specified in the current job plan will be considered for this post, with negotiation on the content of the job plan on an individual basis. Candidates who wish to apply as part of a job share arrangement will also be considered.

The Royal Surrey is very proud to have an enthusiastic and dynamic team of OMFS surgeons supporting a regional population of approximately 1.6 million across Surrey and Hampshire. The unit is a tertiary referral centre for subspecialist maxillofacial work is supported by excellent orthodontic and restorative dentistry colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the existing OMFS team and will be competent across the range of OMFS care but with a focus on facial trauma, skin cancer, TMJ pathology and potentially deformity surgery for the appropriate candidate.  Care will be delivered  providing outpatient clinics, GA and LA operating lists as well as on call provision on a 1:8/1:9 basis.

  • Full registration and a licence to practice with the GMC
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Registrar Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
  • MBBS or equivalent FRCS
  • BDS or equivalent MFDS
Desirable criteria
  • Full registration with the GDC
  • Teaching/Education Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Fully trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
  • Understand the principals of Clinical Governance
  • Experience and interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and skills of all aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
