Job overview

As a main provider of apprenticeships, we are seeking an exceptional Healthcare Education Coach with experience of delivering Apprenticeship Standards to join the team. You will have excellent communication skills, a passion for learning and have a proven track record with regards to learner success rates. 

Main Duties of Role

•    To deliver high quality apprenticeship standards and teaching of Healthcare Apprenticeships.  
•    Prepare, agree, and review individual learning plans
•    Providing observational and specific feedback, encouraging the apprentice to self-assess their performance and readiness for achievement
•    To accurately track and report all progress with apprentices against their individualised learning plan and in preparation for end point assessment
•    To support, stretch and challenge apprentice’s skills and abilities to enable them to achieve their best performance 
•    To effectively use online classrooms, online learning systems and e-portfolio to compliment a blended learning approach for all learners

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be a dual professional, using up-to-date professional knowledge and skills to support vocational and professional development across the formal education and training sector, as well as in an employer setting at any level.

The post holder will take a key role in the delivery and development of qualifications and Standards within the Healthcare sector.
 
The postholder will provide appropriate support in the teaching of a range of qualifications in related disciplines such as the embedding of functional skills.

The post holder will assess and review learners in the workplace and guide them through their apprenticeship.

The postholder will work with the Head of Apprenticeships and Career Hub and the Quality and Compliance Manager to develop materials to support the implementation of coaching approaches that reflect priority areas for spread and adoption, and to co-ordinate education and coaching initiatives aligned with a range of learner development initiatives.

The post holder will deliver compliant, high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.

Working with Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team, the post holder will promote and maintain a healthy, safe and inclusive work environment for all learners and ensure that EDI is central to the delivery of this work.

Our patients are benefitting from our Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch. 
 
These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 94,000 scans a year. 
 
The majority of our 8,000 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.

Person specification

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • L4 Award in Preparing to Teach in the lifelong learning sector or equivalent.
  • A1/TAQA Assessing Vocational Achievement Awards or equivalent.
  • Healthcare/Nursing qualification Level 5 or above.
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification - PGCE.
  • Assessor Coach qualification L4.

Experience/ Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of using coaching skills.
  • Awareness of current NHS policies and priorities.
  • Experience of Ofsted.
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of Smart Assessor e-portfolio.
