Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Band 6 Radiographer to join our CT & MRI team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The post will be based at Hammersmith Hospital.
The post will give the opportunity for you to build on and extend your clinical skills. Education and training are key elements of the department. We encourage and support staff in their CPD and offer both undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities.
The Imaging Department at Hammersmith Hospital performs a comprehensive range of procedures over a variety modalities with both clinical and research work being undertaken. We provide complex imaging for the many specialist centres within our Hospital, including Renal Transplant Medicine, Hepatobiliary and Cardiothoracic medicine.
Please note that you must be a qualified diagnostic radiographer who and registered with the HCPC to apply for this job.
Main duties of the job
• To assist in the provision of an efficient MRI/CT service.
• To work as part of a professional radiography team providing a high quality diagnostic service.
• To maintain a sensitive and courteous approach to patients.
• To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
• To maintain a safe working environment within the MRI/CT departments.
• To participate in training and education of staff in MRI/CT scanning.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (Hons) Radiography, DCR (D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or equivalent.
- HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate study
Experience
Essential criteria
- Up –to-date knowledge of general imaging techniques.
- Experience of working unsupervised.
- Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care
- Experience of working with cross-sectional imaging.
Desirable criteria
- 2 years post -graduation experience.
- Experience of training staff and students.
- MRI and CT experience
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to make prompt decisions based on knowledge, experience and circumstances
- Ability to teach and mentor students, more junior staff and new members of staff
- Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
- Keep all records up to date in a clear, accurate and concise manner on a day-to-day basis.
Desirable criteria
- Basic teaching, counselling and supervisory skills.
- IV injecting skills
