Job overview

An exciting opportunity, has arisen for a self-motivated and forward thinking Imaging Operations Lead Radiographer, to join the Modality Leads’ team. This post is at St Mary’s Hospital, which is a key leadership role and the successful candidate will be a role model for demonstrating our Trust’s values through their leadership behaviours, working collaboratively across multi-disciplinary teams and be committed to providing high quality patient care. 

We are looking for a dedicated & experienced Radiographer with proven team leadership and communication skills, to be responsible for the operational management of Imaging services ensuring optimum use of staffing and equipment resources throughout the department in conjunction with the team of Modality Leads. 

As part of the first Academic Health Science Centre our aim is to provide world-class healthcare to our patients through excellence in research, education and training. Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust comprises of five hospitals - Charing Cross, Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea, Hammersmith, St Mary’s, Western Eye and the Community Diagnostic Centre. 

Main duties of the job

  •  Deputise for the Clinical Services Manager during periods of absence.
     
  • To work in collaboration with the modality leads responsible for the service
  • Manage and supervise staff and students.
  • To ensure the provision of a high quality service and maintain a safe environment.
  • Commitment to Trust and Directorate objectives.
  • Support staff training and development programmes.
  • To provide professional leadership within Imaging.
  • Communicate effectively across the department

Education

Essential criteria
  • BSc(Hons) Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers or Equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification in appropriate speciality or demonstrably working to an equivalent level of expertise (e.g. Nuclear Medicine/ Ultrasound)
  • Health Professions Council Registration
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Management qualification
  • Post graduate study

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant UK experience in specialty at Band 7 level
  • Substantial operational management experience
  • Management experience
  • Track record of effective performance at senior level
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience as a Modality Lead/ Superintendent Radiographer

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to lead and work as part of a team
  • Ability to teach and mentor students and staff
  • Evidence of service redesign / modernisation skills
  • Ability to cope with work pressures and manage time effectively
