An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced nurse to develop within a senior nurse role at Mill Lodge CAMHS inpatient unit.
Mill Lodge CAMHS inpatient unit are looking to recruit a band 6 nurse to join our dynamic and progressive team. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, flexible, and able to demonstrate that they can work in a role which demands a high degree of knowledge and skill. Applicants should possess a drive and determination to achieve high quality care for young people and their families.
Mill Lodge Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit is nationally commissioned by NHS England. It is a 10 bedded service which cares for young people aged between 13-18 years old, who have significant and complex mental health difficulties. It is part of Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest Specialist and Learning Disabilities Trusts in the country. The Care Quality Commission rated Mill Lodge as good.
The Senior Nurse role will involve overseeing the nursing care provided on the unit, supporting, and developing junior staff through preceptorships, acting as a role model, liaising with partner organisations and families, working closely with other disciplines as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team and undertaking specific duties under the direction of the Operational Manager.

The post holder will participate in robust Clinical and Managerial Supervision, and Reflective Practice. They will be supported by an established an established management team.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide a high level of care and support for young people between the ages of 13 and 17. This will include shift co-ordination and leadership with the support of the management team. You will act as keyworker for a small number of young people and work with them to develop risk management plans, care plans and positive behaviour support (PBS) plans. These plans will direct the care and interventions provided for each young person and you will be involved in delivering this daily. You will be responsible for carrying out medication rounds and ensuring that NG feeding is facilitated as per care plans.

You will be involved in supporting a team of experienced health care assistants and band 5 nurses to carry out their role and will provide support and guidance around care provision. You will provide management supervision, clinical supervision and appraisals for junior nursing staff (and other members of a multi-disciplinary team) and will often lead / coordinate / supervise teams of staff in the delivery and evaluation of care and the service. You will take a leadership role within the team, role-modeling good practice in terms of team working, patient care and when communicating with families and external agencies. You will be supported to take the lead on a particular area within the service, working to develop this area and there may be the expectation of delivering training or liaising with external professionals linked to the area.
