Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria

Master’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
Registered as a Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Postgraduate diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
HEE Educational Supervisor programme completion (or working towards) or other equivalent qualification/experience.

Desirable criteria

Appropriate management short courses
Registered Independent Prescriber (or working towards)
Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society

Experience / Knowledge

Essential criteria

Post qualification experience of working in a UK hospital; this must include a solid grounding in all aspects of hospital pharmacy.
Experience of assessing clinical risk and clinical governance
Experience of setting objectives and managing performance
Experience of writing policies and SOPs.

Desirable criteria

Practical experience with an electronic in-patient prescribing system (Cerner)
Experience of training of nursing and/or medical staff
Experience of using Quality Improvement tools in practical environment

Skills/ abilities

Essential criteria

Ability to communicate with all staff and patients at all levels.
Ability to justify any advice given with supporting literature- evidence, should this be challenged.
Ability to plan and organise a broad range of training and development activities.
Ability to contribute to business plans, policies and clinical protocols.

Remote developmental histories and child observations (via video calls)
Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.

ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People, based in our Exeter clinic
