West London NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Health Visitor to join our forward-thinking and inclusive 0–19 Universal Children’s Services. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on the next step in your career in delivering high-impact public health nursing and the MECSH (Maternal Early Childhood Sustained Home-Visiting) programme within our vibrant and diverse communities.
We are recruiting for two Senior Health Visitor, 12-month fixed term posts. This role is for you, if you have a passion for working with vulnerable families and have significant safeguarding and Health Visitor experience as well as experience in MECSH programme.
What We’re Looking For:
- NMC registered Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor).
- Substantial post-qualification experience in Health Visiting.
- Experience or training in MECSH programme.
- Strong safeguarding expertise and ability to lead in complex cases.
- Inspirational leadership and supervision skills.
As part of our skill mix team, you will contribute to the delivery of the national Healthy Child programme across Hounslow, working closely with partners, such as GPs, children’s centres and social care providing seamless care to the population of Hounslow.
Main duties of the job
This role combines advanced clinical practice with leadership, supervision, and service development responsibilities. The postholder will ensure the provision of safe, effective, and high-quality health visiting services that promote the health and wellbeing of children and families.
Your Role Will Include:
Caseload Management:
- Oversee a defined, complex caseload of families with additional needs.
- Provide expert assessment and early intervention in line with the Healthy Child Programme.
- Champion equitable access to services for vulnerable families.
MECSH Programme Delivery:
- Deliver the MECSH programme with fidelity, supporting sustained and structured home visiting.
- Facilitate improved outcomes for families through evidence-based parenting interventions.
- Contribute to ongoing programme evaluation and outcome monitoring.
Supervision and Professional Leadership:
- Deliver high-quality clinical supervision to Health Visitors and Community Nursery Nurses.
- Promote reflective practice and continuous professional development.
- Contribute to local service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
The post holder will carry overall responsibility for individuals, families and communities in line with contractual agreements and within their sphere of responsibility. Working in collaboration with members of the Primary health care team, allied health professionals and other key members of statutory and voluntary agencies are key components of this role.
