Specialist Dietitian (Rotational)

Swydd-ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

You will:
• Be responsible for the provision of a specialist dietetic service in the acute hospital setting.
• Work in a variety of clinical settings on a rotational basis including inpatient gastroenterology wards, gastroenterology outpatient clinics, acute surgical and oncology wards, radiotherapy and chemotherapy units, the acute admissions unit and acute medical & renal wards, high dependency and critical care units.
• Be a key member of the multidisciplinary teams and attend multidisciplinary meetings.
• Provide nutritional support to patients including management of oral nutrition support, enteral feeding, and home enteral feed discharges.
• Complete competencies relevant to each rotation.
• Supervise and support junior dietitians, dietetic assistants, and student dietitians.
• Undertake clinical audit and quality improvement projects in your specialist area.
• Attend regular internal CPD sessions.
• Be supported to undertake service and personal career development.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Degree or equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics
HCPC (Health and Care professions Council) registered dietitian (RD
Evidence of commitment to relevant ongoing CPD and development in relevant areas
Evidence of relevant dietetic knowledge and expertise with recent experience demonstrating this
Ability to communicate complex information fluently, confidently and effectively to a diverse range of people: e.g., with patients, carers, managers and other health care professionals
Ability to demonstrate a practical and sensitive approach and flexibility in working style when applying clinical judgement to complex clinical issues
Ability to create rapport and professionally manage relationships with colleagues, patients and carers and the emotional challenges this presents
Demonstrate a holistic approach to treatment
Ability to cope with unpredictable events and varying clinical and non-clinical work pressures, independently planning and prioritising own workload, managing own time and meeting deadlines

Member of British Dietetic Association (BDA) and relevant specialist groups
Experience mentoring or supervising dietetic assistants or junior staff
Experience and involvement with dietetic student training
Experience of audit/project work
Ability to cover “out of hours” commitments on agreed occasions

The Opportunity

Paloma Health has developed a new gold-standard autism assessment pathway and our own Patient Record software system, which allows us to offer:

An exceptional service and timely assessments, as well as clear strengths and needs-based outcomes, regardless of whether an autism diagnosis is made.
High assessor role satisfaction by improving the experience of delivering assessments. For example, we are building an AI tool to streamline diagnostic report writing, which we know is a pressure of the role.

You will be a Senior Assessor within our multidisciplinary assessment team, delivering:

Remote developmental histories and child observations (via video calls)
Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing
Outcome calls with parents and families (via video call)

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.

ADOS Autism Assessor for Children and Young People, based in our Exeter clinic

Time commitment: Full-time employment is preferred, though we can also offer part-time (minimum of 3 days per week) or a self-employed role (again a minimum of 3 days per week).

Location: This role is in-person based at our Exeter, Devon clinic.
