Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are looking for a current senior band 6 nurse or a CNS, with relevant cancer, TYA or clinical experience to join our friendly team. It is essential that you have either experience with, or a wish to work with and learn about the specialty of TYA cancer. You will need to be able to demonstrate your experience or knowledge of the specific needs of TYA’s and some of the challenges that this can present. You must be able to work independently and also as part of a team. You will be required to work set days to fit in with the existing team and our usual shifts are 0800-1800 Monday to Friday. Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master’s Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio
Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice
Provide evidence of leading learning in practice
Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality
Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation
Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice

Desirable criteria

Counselling / advanced communication skills qualification / training
Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed

Peer MDT diagnostic decision-making, with the support of the senior clinical MDT where required
Tech-enabled outcome report writing

As a Senior Assessor, you have the opportunity to focus on delivering direct care. Furthermore, if you have the relevant experience and skills, you can take on an additional responsibility. We limit this to one responsibility to allow for focused time on that topic, rather than having your time stretched too thinly. When taking on an additional responsibility, your case volume is reduced, making time available for this focused time.

For Senior Assessors, additional responsibility options include supporting more complex cases, ensuring quality assurance, providing training, facilitating family engagement, and contributing to pathway development.
