Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora is seeking Clinical Psychologists across the country. Whether you’re passionate about infant, child and adolescent mental health, adult mental health, or specialist areas such as forensic or health psychology, these roles offer the chance to shape local services, improve access to care, and enjoy a balanced, rewarding lifestyle.

About the role

Clinical Psychologists at Health New Zealand provide comprehensive psychological assessment and treatment for individuals, families, and communities. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support recovery and wellbeing, with opportunities to contribute to service development, supervision, and innovation in care delivery.

Depending on your region and scope, your role may include:

  • Providing assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions
  • Working within community, inpatient, or specialist services
  • Supporting equity-focused initiatives, particularly in Māori and Pacific health
  • Offering supervision to interns, peers, or wider team members
  • Contributing to research, teaching, or service development
  • Roles are available across urban and regional services, including areas with high demand in infant, child, and adolescent mental health

Who we’re looking for

You’ll need to be eligible for registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board as a Clinical Psychologist.

You’ll also bring the following:

  • Strong assessment and therapeutic skills, with experience across a range of clinical presentations
  • A culturally safe and inclusive approach to care
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • A commitment to improving equity and outcomes for diverse communities
  • International applicants are encouraged - our team will support you with relocation and registration.

Pay and benefits

  • Base salary of NZD $85K to NZD $150K
