About you

Exciting opportunities are available for qualified Cardiologists (Senior Medical Officers) who want to make a positive impact while working in a dynamic, multidisciplinary, and supportive team.

We are looking for Cardiologists who are passionate about delivering quality care to our patients. You'll work across various settings - from tertiary hospitals with advanced interventional facilities to regional centres providing essential diagnostic and treatment services. The scope can include general cardiology, interventional procedures, echocardiography, electrophysiology, and heart failure management.

Positions are available across New Zealand in Auckland, Christchurch, Napier, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Nelson, Whangarei and Hamilton. You can speak with our recruitment team about your plans to move to New Zealand.

To work as a Cardiologist (Senior Medical Officer) in New Zealand, you must become registered to practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Practitioners must meet competency standards and hold Annual Practicing Certificates (APCs) to work safely and effectively. Salary and benefits

Senior Medical Officers receive 6 weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays, giving you time to explore our beautiful country and raise a family in our diverse communities. Along with your base salary as a Senior Medical Officer, you will have an annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance of £7K GBP ($16K NZD) (pro-rated for part-time employees), reimbursement of your registration and practicing certificate fees and your professional indemnity insurance is covered by Health New Zealand.

Senior Medical Officers receive a base salary relative to their level of experience.

  • Medical Officers annual salaries range £62.5K GBP – £92.4K GBP ($142K NZD - $210K NZD) plus allowances
  • Medical Specialists annual salaries range £81.4K GBP - £117.5K GBP ($185K NZD - $267K NZD) plus allowances

Additional allowances are paid on top of base salary and vary due to location and service.
