Lead Clinical Psychologist

• Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.

Lead Clinical Psychologist

If you are an experienced psychologist, looking to work with cared for children, where you can make a difference and change lives for the better, then this role might be for you. An opportunity has arisen to cover part of the lead psychologists’ post for 12 months in Revive; a specialist Emotional Health and well-being Team, that sits within Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services. This post will manage and lead the team which comprises a play therapist, 2 CAMHS practitioners and an additional clinical psychologist. It is an exciting time for Revive as we continue to develop the service, expanding the use of outcome measures and reviewing service delivery.
A busy team, Revive work directly and indirectly with young people and families in the care of, or have previously been in the care of the local authority. Revive also provides regular indirect work to systems supporting young people and families, including consultations, supervision, training and reflective practice.

The post is seconded into Revive from East Lancashire Child and Adolescent Service (ELCAS). ELCAS is a specialist service consisting of Child Psychiatrists, mental health practitioners, specialist therapists and clinical psychologists who provide a range of evidence-based interventions for children with mental health difficulties and their families.
The Service has good links with local universities to which it regularly provides clinical placements to practitioners in training. ELCAS is rated as Outstanding by the CQC.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, hardworking, have excellent relational and interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to working with this client group. They will be responsible for ensuring that they achieve the key objectives of delivering safe, personal and effective Emotional Health and Well Being for this specialist group within Blackburn with Darwen.
The post holder will be expected to provide leadership and clinical supervision to the team over the 4 days, in addition to overseeing and being involved in service management tasks, including implementing robust processes of clinical governance.

You will be a dynamic, forward-thinking person who is keen to help cover a pivotal role in a changing service, whilst working with a variety of stakeholders and interfacing services to promote psychological thinking and high-quality care. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously whilst being part of a highly supportive and close team. The post holder will be supported by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within in the ELCAS service, and reports to the Head of Clinical service at ELCAS.
The service operates from a variety of sites across East Lancashire for which some travel will be required but the main administrative base is Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services, based at Duke Street, in Blackburn.
Must be able to cover the travel requirements of the post.

- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or the equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, specifically including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.

- Post-doctoral training in one or more additional area of psychological practice.
Knowledge

- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology, including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology and two or more distinct psychological therapies, including Family Therapy
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- A high level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level complex, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional persons within and outside the NHS.
Experience

- Substantial post qualification experience including experience of working within a specialist CAMHS or LAC team.
- Experience of the delivery and evaluation of Psychological Services within a CAMHS/LAC setting
