Based on the PSA and APEX collective agreements, Occupational Therapists have a 9-step progression salary scale. Base salaries generally range between NZD$72,000 and NZD$103,000. Senior or specialist Occupational Therapists may receive higher salary bands depending on the level of experience or seniority of the role. Senior/specialist salaries generally range between NZD$110,000 and NZD$119,000.

To work as an Occupational Therapist in New Zealand, you must hold registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC). Applications from internationally qualified therapists are welcome and assessed for eligibility and equivalence on a case-by-case basis.

Salary and benefits

Occupational Therapists enjoy competitive salaries based on experience and role complexity, typically ranging from £31.4K GBP - £51.8K GBP ($72K NZD - $119K NZD) per year. You'll also receive four weeks of annual leave, 12 paid public holidays, and a professional development allowance. Your registration and practising certificate fees are reimbursed.
