About the role
This teaching hospital attached to the University of Otago Medical School has over 300 beds and services the southern region of New Zealand covering a population of around 340,000. The Anaesthesia Service has state of the art equipment and is supported by well-trained technicians and PACU staff. This is also an exciting time to join as the service prepares for a complete hospital rebuild which will feature 22 theatres with the option to grow to 24. As a Specialist Anaesthetist, you'll provide anaesthesia for a mix of general lists covering a broad range of specialist services. There’s a requirement to provide afterhours cover during the week and to participate on a 1:8 weekend call roster.
This tertiary level hospital undertakes a full range of elective and acute surgical specialities and can offer you a varied and challenging array of anaesthesia work. They are open to contracts from 12 months to permanent.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience to complement the team:
- An excellent general skill set
- A team player with exceptional interpersonal skills who builds effective relationships both within and external to their team
- Solution focused and able to demonstrate excellent decision making and priority setting in a clinical environment
- Enthusiasm for teaching and passing on your knowledge to junior members of staff
About you
· Appointed specialists will possess FANZCA or an equivalent qualification allowing a vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council.
