Phlebotomist
Band 3

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time, enthusiastic band 3 Phlebotomist to join our CQC rated ‘Outstanding’ Trust.
Based at West Berkshire Community Hospital, you will be working with a team of Phlebotomists. The department is expanding its opening hours and will be open between Monday to Friday between 08:00-18:00 hrs and on alternative Saturday mornings between 08:00-13:00 hrs. We are a busy, dynamic department and would like to hear from suitable qualified people.
You will have had recent phlebotomy experience (minimum 6 months) and are expected to complete our local competency assessments.
This post is 22.5 hours per week

Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.

Ensure safe collection of blood samples according to agreed procedures.

Ensure appropriate and accurate labelling and dispatch specimens to laboratories.

To answer the telephone and deal with calls politely and efficiently

- Work experience in a healthcare environment

- Ability to travel to multiple sites.
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Sound understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Awareness of data protection and confidentiality issues
- Must be physically able to assist less able & wheelchair bound patients.
