Senior Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP)

Job overview
We are pleased to recruit to the role of Senior Wellbeing Practitioner within the Hounslow Mental Health Support Team in West London NHS Trust. The role offers the opportunity for qualified Senior Wellbeing Practitioner experienced in providing supervision to trainee or qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioners to join our team. Please note that applicants are required to have both PGDip EMHP and PCert SWP qualifications to be eligible for this role.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will be providing clinical and skills-based supervision to trainee and more junior practitioners, with the support of a Team Lead. Alongside this, you would be working as a senior practitioner delivering evidence-based interventions to children, young people and families/carers within schools. The role will also include supporting Team Leads and managers with aspects of service development and operational functioning of the team.
We invite applications from qualified Senior Wellbeing Practitioners to join our team with experience working within schools who are interested to develop their supervision skills and utilise these in supporting trainees and more junior members of staff. We are looking for people who have good skills in team working, and who value working with a diverse staff group.

Essential criteria
- Evidence of qualification as a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner (PGCert SWP) from accredited training provider.
- Evidence of qualification as Education Mental Health Practitioner (PGDip EMHP) from accredited training provider
Desirable criteria
- Psychology or other health /social care/youth related undergraduate degree
- Other relevant postgraduate degree
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working as a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner and providing supervision for junior staff
- Significant experience post EMHP qualification of working with children and/or young people and families
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the role of the family in supporting children and young people’s emotional well-being
- Understanding of systems and contexts in which children and young people are likely to live
- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place to demonstrating outcomes
- Demonstrates an understanding of common mental health problems experienced by children and young people
- Understands why it is essential to use evidence-based interventions when possible
- Experience in providing manualised EMHP interventions for children and young people experiencing, mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.
- Experience of MDT working

- Understands why collecting feedback from children, young people and parents is important
- Able to identify common mental health problems in children and young people
- Worked in a service where agreed targets in place to demonstrating outcomes
