Named Professional Safeguarding Children 22.5 Hours  

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Named Professional for Safeguarding Children for Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will join a large dynamic team who provide expert safeguarding children advice, supervision, and training to staff across Berkshire Healthcare including universal services, allied professionals and CAMHSYou will have the opportunity to develop skills in both child and adult safeguarding, will receive training and support and work with multi-agency partners to develop safeguarding practice. 

The main base for this post is St Marks Hospital, however the post holder will visit bases across Berkshire with flexibility to work from home. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • You will support and offer expert advice to Berkshire Healthcare staff in all aspects of their work with children and families where there are child protection concerns.  

  • When necessary, attend Child Protection Conferences to provide expert advice and support, provide an objective assessment of risk and contribute to the multi-agency decision making process.  

  • Provide Clinical Supervision specific to child protection for staff as per the BHFT Child Protection Supervision Policy.  

  • Support community health staff in preparation of court reports.  

  • Prepare and support community health staff should they be requested to give evidence in Court under Children Act proceedings 

  • Plan, design and deliver child protection training for Berkshire Healthcare staff at all levels within the organisation.  

  • Work closely with the Assistant Head of Safeguarding in providing and presenting reports on Governance issues to the Trust Board when requested to do so.  

  • Contribute to the collation of health data for Internal Management Reviews and Safeguarding practice ReviewsDevelop a chronology of events and contribute to the analysis of the complex information and recommendations.  

  • Represent Berkshire Healthcare on subgroups of the Local Safeguarding Children Partnership Arrangements and other multi agency panels as requested.

Previous Experience

  • Working across agency boundaries
  • Minimum of 3 years working with children and families in the community
  • Demonstrate experience working with vulnerable children, initiating child protection procedures
  • Experience in assessing risk and harm
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-agency team delivering a child protection plan

  • Demonstrate experience in writing child protection conference reports
  • Demonstrate experience of delivery of training and presentations
  • Experience of clinical audit
