We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.
Our values support our vision and guide the behaviour of everything we do, these are:

At the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH), we know the benefits diversity can bring to our organisation such as creativity, innovation and compassion. All of which have a direct impact towards our staff and patient experience. We are committed to being a Hospital for All – being equitable and inclusive, and a place where all feel a sense of belonging. We therefore particularly encourage and welcome applications from candidates who are underrepresented in NNUH’s workforce. These include people from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, people with diverse abilities and people within the LGBT+ community.

The appointee will be expected to manage Neuro-Ophthalmic patients, clinics will be a mix of face-to-face and virtual reviews. NNUH is an acute trust and the appointee will also be involved in the management of acute presentations to their service. Responsibilities will also be undertaken in another area of interest. Our current clinic templates are based on new and follow up appointments. Typically, the appointee would be expected to see 4 new patients and 6 follow-up patients per face-to-face clinic in addition to supervising other doctors, optometrists and specialist nurses.
The Neuro-Ophthalmology service currently has capacity to see around 80 patients per month based on new and follow up attendances, we also run a virtual clinic with the requirement to hold a review clinic each week.
The theatre lists undertaken in ophthalmic theatres will be local anaesthetic cataract lists with the aim to see 8 or more patients per list, depending on complexity
