Senior Clinical Support Technician

This role  plays a critical role in supporting Southampton Solent University’s commitment to delivering high-quality, practice-based education in nursing. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and pedagogically effective operation of clinical teaching spaces, directly impacting student learning, staff support, and compliance with health and safety standards.

By managing equipment, coordinating workshop activities, and maintaining documentation, this role enables hands-on learning experiences that align with industry expectations and regulatory requirements. Their expertise in clinical procedures and technical operations ensures that students gain real-world skills in a controlled and  safe environment. This role is also essential for: 

  • Maintain high standards of teaching delivery within nursing and health care.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and procedural documentation
  • Support innovation in clinical education through well-managed facilities
  • Reduce operational risk and improve resource efficiency

Enhance student satisfaction and employability through practical learning, Southampton Solent University is seeking a dedicated technician to oversee the operation of our clinical teaching workshops within the Nursing department. This pivotal role ensures the safe, efficient, and effective use of clinical equipment and facilities to support hands-on learning. Working both independently and collaboratively, as the technician will manage day-to-day activities, maintain high standards of health and safety, and provide technical support to staff and students. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a dynamic educational environment. This role requires excellent communication  and interpersonal skills, ability to problem solve and to be able to work independently and meet, to be able to monitor and mange consumable stock levels and to be competent in using computer systems.
