We are looking for an experienced and exceptional Advanced Clinical Practitioner to the lead the Cancer Care ACP team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced ACP to be part of the cancer care senior management team. Leading a team of both trainee and qualified ACPs working across all areas of the care group. We are looking for someone motivated and committed to developing the service and professional group to be the at the leading edge of advanced practice in cancer care.
Cancer Care is one of the largest Care groups at UHS and is a compassionate, dynamic and high-profile care group which covers a wide range of specialties from the treatment of patients with SACT and Radiotherapy to the complexities of Acute Oncology and palliative care. We are a regional centre for the delivery of Bone Marrow Transplant are incredibly proud to now be delivering Car T treatment. We are also the regional primary treatment centre for teenagers and young adults with cancer (TYA).

You will be a clinical expert, have a clinical case load and support your team with their development representing advanced practice at a care group level and cancer care advanced practice at a divisional and organisational level.
You will have a proven track record of effective leadership, change management and be able to work across professional and departmental boundaries. This post holder will have important responsibilities in relation to governance in advanced practice and be able to independently enact a problem-solving approach to ensure service continuity and quality improvement initiatives.
The retention and ongoing development of the Cancer Care ACP team will be a key part of the role, with supervision and support of those undertaking their educational ACP pathways. Working collaboratively with the sub speciality teams to ensure that Advanced Practice is not only embraced but progressive in development of both the roles and those within them. Developing an Advanced Practice strategy internally to Cancer Care but which compliments both regional and national standards to ensure excellence.
Our inpatient services are provided in six ward areas totalling 93 beds. There are two-day case units for providing day treatments in an ambulatory setting as well an Acute Oncology Service to provide care for those patients needing acute assessment and triage. In addition to our onsite units, SACT is provided in outreach locations as well as in partnership with a commercial company in patient’s homes. The outpatient clinics are provided in a number of locations across the trust including joint clinics with other specialties.
Cancer Care provides a number of Oncologists, Haematologists and Specialist palliative Care Clinicians to the peripheral cancer units at Hampshire Hospitals, Salisbury, IOW and the Channel Islands Cancer Care also hosts the Trust wide Hospital Specialist Palliative Care and End of Life Care services.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

- MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice –full master (180 credits) Or equivalency pathway –the portfolio route –recognition by HEE centre of Advanced practice, via the supported portfolio route. Including NMP where professional registration permits.
- Qualified ACP
- Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register
- Evidence of advanced leadership qualities Experience of educating and developing staff
- Evidence of change
- Management, leadership and innovation
- Evidenced based care philosophy
- Ability to prioritise work and adapt to changing deadlines
- Confident of own knowledge base
- Ability to synthesise complex information quickly and able to communicate
