Job overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for a a friendly, enthusiastic, and motivated individual with a passion for supporting those with mental illness and learning disabilities to join our pharmacy team within LYPFT. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, an eye for detail and can work effectively as part of a team and independently.
Applications are encouraged from backgrounds in administration, customer service or pharmacy as there will be opportunities for the development of existing skills as well as the opportunity to undertake further training.
This is a development post for progression from a Band 2 Pharmacy Support Worker to a Band 3 Pharmacy Support Worker Higher Level.
Informal visits to the department to learn more about this opportunity can be arranged on request. A requirement to participate in weekend and bank holidays on a rotational basis will be necessary.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will work closely with our clinical teams and Pharmacists in providing a high-quality medicines optimisation service to clinical areas within LYPFT. Key areas of responsibility include:
· Reception and administrative duties within our dispensaries including answering the telephone, answering the hatch, uploading information to clinical systems and general housekeeping.
· Support the dispensary team with checking off orders, expiry date checking and maintaining stock.
· Providing support to service users attending the hatch and signposting them to the most appropriate person.
· You will be expected to work towards or have successfully achieved the development stages detailed in the Band 2–3 progression framework within 12 months. This will include undertaking a GPhC recognised Dispensing Assistant Course if not already complete. Alongside the Dispensing Assistant course, you will complete a range of in-house dispensary competencies, such as dispensing accreditation and controlled drugs training.
· Upon completion of the development framework, duties will also include dispensing medicines to a high standard in a safe and efficient way.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We have a range of general and specialist mental health services including inpatient Adult and Older Peoples, Forensic, Recovery and Rehabilitation and community psychiatric care to the population of Leeds, forensic and CAMHS services to the population of York and tertiary specialist services such as Child and Young Peoples Service and the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine.
This post is full time and includes occasional weekend working. This position also requires on-site working.
