We currently have an opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician (Procurement and Distribution) to join our team. You will help deliver a high quality, safe and effective pharmacy purchasing and distribution service to our in-patient wards (community health and mental health services) and our out-patient services.
We are a small friendly team, based at Prospect Park Hospital in Reading where our dispensary, pharmacy stores and purchasing office is located.
Our working hours are currently 09.00 – 17.00 Monday to Friday with you also working a late shift in the dispensary on a rota basis, which means no nights or weekends. We offer free parking on site.
Main duties of the job

Co-ordinate the day-to-day supply of medicines to all areas of BHFT, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and transport schedules, supporting the Procurement Manager with supervision of Senior Pharmacy Assistants, workflow, stock control, ordering of medicines, pharmacy consumables and medical gases.

Participate in the ordering, supply and stock control of medicines, including associated sundries and assisting with the monitoring and management of medicine supply issues including drug recalls.

Be responsible for ensuring items owing to pharmacy and other areas are reviewed, ordering stock when necessary or arranging alternative products, this will include checking outstanding orders from suppliers with the assistance from the Procurement Manager and ensuring that products owed to other areas are processed promptly after receipt.

Take an active role in contributing towards service development and improvement both within Pharmacy Stores and the wider Pharmacy department.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), which requires: A GPHC approved pharmacy technician course/qualification A minimum of two years of work-based experience under the guidance of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
- Microsoft office / general IT skills
Desirable criteria
- Experience of EMIS (pharmacy software)
- Purchasing experience
- Level 3 CIPS or equivalent qualification in Purchasing and Supply
Training

- Evidence of continued professional development

- Coaching and/or mentoring training

Previous Experience

- Evidence of stock control experience.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
