We are looking for Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who are passionate about delivering quality care to our patients.

You’ll be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team providing care across pregnancy, childbirth, and complex gynaecological needs. Depending on the specific position, duties may include some or all of the following:

·       Obstetric care: Antenatal monitoring, managing labour and delivery (including C-sections), and postnatal follow-up

·       General gynaecology: Diagnosing and treating menstrual disorders, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, and pelvic organ prolapse

·       Surgical procedures: Performing gynaecological and pelvic floor surgeries, including laparoscopic operations

·       Fertility and family planning: Managing infertility, providing IUI/IVF treatments, and delivering contraception and sterilisation services

·       Cancer screening: Conducting cervical and gynaecological cancer screening, diagnosis, and treatment planning

·       Emergency care: Responding to obstetric and gynaecological emergencies requiring urgent intervention

·       Education: Supporting patient education and contributing to the training of junior clinicians

To work as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (Senior Medical Officer) in New Zealand, you must become registered to practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Practitioners must meet competency standards and hold Annual Practising Certificates (APCs) to work safely and effectively.

Salary and benefits

Senior Medical Officers receive 6 weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays, giving you time to explore our beautiful country and raise a family in our diverse communities. Along with your base salary as a Senior Medical Officer, you will have an annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance of £6.9K GBP ($16K NZD) (pro-rated for part-time employees), reimbursement of your registration and practising certificate fees and your professional indemnity insurance is covered by Health New Zealand.

Senior Medical Officers receive a base salary relative to their level of experience.

·       Medical Officers annual salaries range £61.5K GBP - £91K GBP ($142K NZD - $210K NZD) plus allowances

·       Medical Specialists annual salaries range £80.1K GBP - £115.7K GBP ($185K NZD - $267K NZD) plus allowances

Additional allowances are paid on top of base salary and vary due to location and service.
