About the role
Exciting opportunities are available for qualified ENT Surgeons who want to make a positive impact while working in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary, and supportive team. We are looking for ENT Surgeons who are passionate about delivering quality care to our patients. Positions are immediately available across New Zealand.
Depending on the role, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
· Surgical procedures: Perform complex surgeries, including procedures for head and neck cancers (excluding the eye and brain), salivary gland surgeries, thyroid surgeries, ear surgeries, and facial reconstructive surgeries. RACS training prepares surgeons for these procedures, including advanced techniques like minimally invasive and endoscopic surgeries
· Trauma care: Manage trauma affecting the head and neck region, including facial fractures, airway obstructions, and injuries to the ears, nose, and throat, ensuring rapid and effective treatment
· Postoperative care: Oversee patient recovery following surgery, monitoring for complications such as infections, bleeding, and airway obstructions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech therapists and audiologists, to ensure the best possible recovery outcomes for patients
· Teaching and mentoring: Contribute to the education and training of junior doctors and surgical trainees, aligning with RACS training programs. This includes providing supervision and mentorship during clinical rotations and supporting the development of future professionals in the field
· Research and professional development: Participate in ongoing professional development through RACS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs. They are also encouraged to engage in clinical research, contributing to advancements in techniques and improving patient care outcomes
About you
To work as an ENT Surgeon (Senior Medical Officer) in New Zealand, you must become registered to practice with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Practitioners need to meet competency standards and hold Annual Practising Certificates (APCs) to work safely and effectively.

Salary and benefits
Senior Medical Officers receive 6 weeks of annual leave and 12 paid public holidays, giving you time to explore our beautiful country and raise a family in our diverse communities. Along with your base salary as a Senior Medical Officer, you will have an annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance of £6.9K GBP ($16K NZD) (pro-rated for part-time employees), reimbursement of your registration and practising certificate fees and your professional indemnity insurance is covered by Health New Zealand.
Senior Medical Officers receive a base salary relative to their level of experience.
· Medical Officers annual salaries range £61.5K GBP - £91K GBP ($142K NZD - $210K NZD) plus allowances
· Medical Specialists annual salaries £80.1K GBP - £115.7K GBP ($185K NZD - $267K NZD) plus allowances
Additional allowances are paid on top of base salary and vary due to location and service.
