This is an exceptional opportunity to join the Leeds and York Partnership Foundation NHS Trust as a Consultant in the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine (NICPM). We are seeking an innovative clinician to take on a pivotal role during a time of dynamic service transformation. This post is being created specifically to support the redesign of service provision as a key part of the pilot for the Treatment and Rehabilitation for Adults with Complex Conditions Service (TRACCS). You will be joining a nationally recognized team dedicated to excellence in the management of complex physical and psychological comorbidities.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide high-level medical leadership and direct clinical care within a specialist inpatient setting. You will work within a robust multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic treatment to patients with complex needs. As a Consultant, you will play a central role in the operational success of the TRACCS pilot, helping to shape the future of this service redesign. The role consists of 8 Programmed Activities, split into 6 Direct Clinical Care and 2 Supporting Professional Activities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post offers a unique opportunity to provide clinical leadership within the National Inpatient Centre for Psychological Medicine (NICPM) at Leeds General Infirmary. As a Consultant in Liaison Psychiatry/Psychological Medicine, you will play a central role in the pilot of the Treatment and Rehabilitation for Adults with Complex Conditions Service (TRACCS).

This position is embedded within a specialist service redesign. You will work alongside a 0.4 WTE Consultant colleague to cover the inpatient unit, providing expert assessment and holistic management for patients with severe and complex physical and psychological co-morbidities. The role involves high-level collaboration with a specialist multidisciplinary team to deliver the TRACCS pathway, ensuring that patients with the most complex needs receive integrated, high-quality care during this exciting phase of service transformation.

Person specification

CCT or equivalent in General Adult Psychiatry

Essential criteria
  • Completion of formal training programme in General Adult Psychiatry, on GMC specialist register for psychiatry

Endorsement in liaison psychiatry, or at least one year experience of liaison psychiatry

Essential criteria
  • Endorsement in liaison psychiatry seen on GMC register, or at least one year experience of liaison psychiatry in training or non training role

Ability to fulfil responsibilities of approved clinician

Essential criteria
  • To be approved under s12 of the MHA 1983 and hold Approved Clinician status as defined within the Mental Health Act by commencement of post
